Pricing
Two fees. No commission. Ever.
Privately charges a once-off fee to join and a monthly fee while you have a live listing — that is the whole model. Nothing is a percentage of your sale price.
The two fees
Platform access
R199 once-offA single payment, made once per account, that unlocks messaging sellers, submitting offers and listing a property. Free for the first 2 000 verified accounts — that offer is currently still open.
Listing subscription
R199 / monthCharged only while a listing is live, billed monthly, and separate from the account you paid to unlock. A limited number of early sellers list for free — a mix of free and paid listings is running today, up to 500 free slots in total. Cancel any time from your dashboard; cancelling stops future billing and unpublishes the listing.
What you never pay
No commission on the sale. A traditional estate agent typically charges 5–7% of the sale price. Privately never takes a percentage of what your property sells for — the two fees above are the entire cost, regardless of the sale price.
No charge to browse. Looking around Privately’s listings is free and does not require an account.
Costs you’ll still pay — on any platform
These are statutory or legal costs set by South African law and the conveyancing process, not by Privately. You would pay them whether you sold through an agent, another platform, or Privately.
Transfer duty — a SARS tax paid by the buyer on higher-priced sales. See the transfer duty and transfer costs guide for the current thresholds and brackets.
Conveyancing attorney fees — every property sale in South Africa must be transferred by a conveyancing attorney; this is required by law. See the conveyancing and transfer process guide for what that costs and covers.
