Privately is a private property marketplace for South Africa. Buyers and sellers connect directly — no estate agent in the middle.
What Privately is
Selling a home in South Africa typically means paying an estate agent 5–7% commission on the sale price. Privately is a platform where sellers list their own property, and buyers search and message sellers directly — the same transaction, without the commission.
Sellers still choose their own conveyancing attorney to handle the legal transfer, exactly as they would with an agent-brokered sale. Privately is the marketplace and the tools; the legal transfer is handled by a qualified attorney, as South African property law requires.
The model
Sellers pay a flat R199 per month while their listing is live — not a percentage of the sale price, and no commission when the property sells. Browsing and messaging as a buyer is free.
Verification & POPIA
Buyers and sellers complete ID verification through Secure Citizen before they can message or transact on the platform.
Listings include an independent Lightstone property valuation, sourced from a third party rather than set by Privately.

Who’s behind it
Privately is founded and run by Chandre Niemand, who built the platform to give South African buyers and sellers a direct way to transact without paying agent commission.
